Full Name | Nicknames: Severus Snape; Snivellus, Snivelly, Half-Blood Prince
Age/Birthday/Year: January 9th, 1960, Seventh Year
House: Slytherin
Blood: Half; Pure on his Mother's side, Muggle on his Father's side.
Sex: Male
Appearance: The pale-skinned Slytherin adorns a long, hooked nose, and black hair, often unkempt or greasy. His teeth aren't as yellow and crooked as they would be in later years, but still has a perpetual scowl. Or something along those lines. Emblazoned on his left arm is the Dark Mark. He is often found giving a 'Hmph, you're dirt to me' look to the other Houses and non-purebloods.
Personality: Honestly, what can you not say about Snape? The dear Slytherin is perfect in everyway. He adorns his House with pride, and those who do not have the honor of bring in the house of Salazar Slytherin are weak-minded fools who are not worthy of his attention, beyond a few insults and sneers. But underneath that cold, evil-seeming exterior, there lies a child who yearned for a happy family. After all, what do you expect from a kid that grew up in an abusive and diminishing enviroment? Being on the edge and in an uncaring enviroment taught him one thing. The world doesn't care about you if you don't have power or strength. And so Snape shut himself to the world, becoming the cold, brooding seventh year we all know and love.
Talents/Weaknesses: To be honest, Snape is basically a genius. And he knows it. By the time he came to Hogwarts, he knew many more curses then several seventh years. And as he grew older, he was able to create his own spells and curses, as well as 'improve' upon the ignorant instructions in his schoolbooks. But you might say many of his true talents lie in the direction of the Dark Arts. His fascination for them has never decreased, but his hunger to learn more has made him easy prey to older people like Lucius Malfoy, who introduced him to the circle of Death Eaters in Hogwarts, and furthered his studies of the Dark Arts to a point beyond common sense. In reality, this strength in Dark Arts was also his weakness, for his thirst could never be abated, and he hunted continously for the secrets that no sane-minded, good wizard would dream of seeking out. And his emotional security is rather frail. Despite the cold shields he put around himself, a well placed insult can still knock him down several notches and perhaps invoke his temper.`
Childhood History: His father, Tobias Snape, was an abusive muggle who often mistreated and even beat upon his mother. During those times, Severus would escape somewhere and hide from the raining blows upon him and his mother. At this time, he began to hate the world, feeling it had done him a great injustice. His philosophy soon became cold, and when he came to Hogwarts, the only truth for him was power. Power and knowledge. If you didn't have those, then the world would shove you in a dank, dark corner and worship those who took your rightful place. Perhaps it was this philosophy that attracted the attention of Lucius Malfoy and the other Death Eaters of Hogwarts. He was drafted into their wings, and it wasn't long until the newest Death Eater was Severus Snape. And soon he took on the name of the Half-Blood Prince.
Family History: Eileen Prince came from a pureblooded family, and married a muggle, Tobias Snape. Tobias was a cruel man who took no mercy on his spouse or child. Eileen became intimidated by her violent and abusive husband, and it became harder for her over the years to stand up to her muggle husband. And with every defeat Eileen suffered, Tobias only took this as a chance to thrust his authority out there. When their child was born, Tobias turned to this new target with even more menace, but Eileen found the strength to fight for her child. Eileen eventually grew sicker and sicker throughout the years. Tobias grew crueler and crueler, and eventually turned to drinks. Thus Severus's father became a beating drunkard.
Relationships: Severus Snape was never one for relationships. You either didn't have the blood, brains, or power to be special enough for Severus Snape. After all, you can't lower your expectations in a cruel world.
What made them who they are today: A drunk and violent father giving him a cold view upon the world, his love of the Dark Arts, and the ease in which he was inducted into the Death Eaters turned him into the apathetic brainiac we all know and love.
