Brilliant emerald eyes bore holes into the ceiling, counting the endless imperfections, boredom overcoming her mind. Lily lay across the soft, comfy couch placed in the Gryffindor Commons room, head laid on the arm rest, a few locks of firey, auburn hair hanging down over the edge. The room was absolutley empty, save her and her small kitten, niko, and who would have expected any different? It was just after 5:00am on a Saturday morning, early even for Lily to be awake, but none the less, here she was, unable to sleep because something was on her mind. She wasn't even sure what that something was, considering about a million things crossed pathes, catching in the tangled web of thoughts, mixing together just to make everything that much more complicated. But there was one thing sticking out above all the rest, one thing she wished wasn't there, one thing she wasn't about to tell anyone that it had crossed her mind. James Potter. He was the most annoying, egotistical pratt Lily had ever met, insisting on pursuing her everyday. All she'd wanted to do from day one, was to get as far away from him as possible, ignore his voice and live her life on her own. Which was going pretty well, aside from the few run-in's they seemed to have on a regular basis, (most of which didn't go over so well) until this year, when Dumbledore, feeling spiteful or something, placed James alongside Lily as Headboy. Of all people! How could the headmaster even think James was responsable enough for the position? He, along with Sirius, was one of the most well-known pranksters at Hogwarts, not to mention the most sought after guy (something Lily could never understand, why any girl would like such a selfcentered git). Everything aside, him being Headboy and she being Headgirl, Lily had to deal with him, no matter what. Now, you may ask, why was her worst enemy on her mind? Well, that was a question not even Lily herself could answer, which was the reason she was here, out in the commons, at such an unsightly time on a Saturday morning, awake. She had been seeing more and more of James as the school year started, mostly because of thier Headship duties, but it seemed that each time, there was just a hint that James was attempting to change. And when I Say hint, I mean smaller than a grain of sand, barely even noticable, yet, Lily noticed. Actualy physicaly shaking her head, Lily tryed to shaked the thought away from her mind, this slight movement catching the sapphire eye of her calico kitten, Niko. Niko had been sitting on the hearth of the fire, licking her paws, when a flicker of red curl caught her eye. Crouching, in attempts to be stealth, Niko crawled towards the swaying tassle of hair, stopping at it's presence and giving it a firm swatt of a white-tipped paw. Feeling a slight jerk at the crown of her head, Lily pulled her head, sitting upwards and glancing over the edge of the couch. A soft, gentle chuckle emitted her lips as the colorful kitten landed in view. "Hey you." She said, leaning down to pick up the miniscule kitten into her arms. "What do you think you're doing, huh?" Lily cooed to Niko, scratching just behind her ears. Barely audiable, there were footsteps coming from the direction of the dormitorys, but Lily paid no notice, surely there wouldn't be a student awake now. Well, aside from her anyways. OoC: Bleh, crappy, but yay! I posted Someone reply, pwease? I'm soo bored.

Stumbling down the stairs in scarlet-and-gold plaid pajamas and fuzzy green slippers, Kara didn't notice Lily at first. Her mind was on the matter of the dream she just had, one of the same she had all summer. This time, the dream involved sitting on the lake with Remus....oh lord, she wished she'd stop thinking of it!
Rubbing her now flushed cheeks, she took a look around and noticed Lily. "Ugh...how can you sound and look so cheerful in the mornings...?" Kara grumbled. "Oh you have Niko...Have you seen Celestia?" Kara asked, speaking of her dark-brown, Himalayan ball of purring fur. "I know she jumped on me in the middle of a nice dream, but I can't find her..." Her slurred, barely-awake voice would have been hard to hear if it wasn't so early in the morning. She yawned and stretched before heading towards Lily.
Kara half-threw, half-fell into a cushy armchair near Lily. "So what brings you up this early?" she mumbled, her voice not so slurred from tiredness. Resting her head on the arm of the chair she watched Lily and Niko, her green eyes slightly intent on the kitten before she shook herself and yawned again. "I could sure go for some tea right now.." she mumbled.

The sound of footsteps grew louder behind her, causing Lily to turn her head half around in attempts to see who it was. Kara? Since when did she get up early? Lily slightly raised an eyebrow, but turned back around as Kara neared. Closing her eyes for a moment, she prayed that no questions would be asked, why she was up at this hour, apon hearing the question, Lily almost let out a sigh of relief. Her emerald eyes darted to turn toward Kara as she spoke. Cheerful? Hah. She thought to herself, but in reply gave a simple shrug. "Umm, I think I saw her curled up under the table over there." Lily spoke in a gentle tone, nodding her head towards the large table on the opposite side of the room. Niko, much liking the attention, had now curled up into a tiny, multicolored ball in Lily's arms, vibrating with a purr sounding much bigger than she was. Lily adored her kitten, her pride and joy. Niko had been a birthday present this previous summer, from her parents since how her owl had erm..well.. kicked the bucket. Tika had been a beautiful, large snowy owl with feathers as white as fluffy clouds in the sky. She'd been Lily's owl since her first year, and always been reliable, but then, must have been old age, Tika took her last flight some few days before Lily's seventeenth birthday. In attempts to cheer thier daughter up, her parents had made a last minute trip into town, planning on getting Lily another owl but being the muggles they were, had no idea that you couldn't get an owl at an anyday petstore. That had been quite the scene in the store. So, quick to quiet her parents, Lily insisted that a kitten would do just fine, and proceeded on picking out Niko, the runt of the litter, but in Lily's mind the best one there. The tone of Kara's voice, once again knocked Lily out of her reminiscent stage, and her bright green eyes flickered back toward Kara. At her question, Lily felt her cheeks grow hot, but was determined not to let it show. "Oh, uh, nothing. Couldn't sleep." She replied in almost a mumble. Yes, Lily wasn't very good at lying, or coming up with answers on the spot, unless for school that is. Tell Kara why she was actualy awake? HA. Now that would be sheer suicide, with the way things had been since they're first year, if Lily let anyone know she'd even thought of thinking something about James, they wouldn't let her live it down. "What about you, you're never up this early.." Lily retorted quickly to Kara, desperatly wanting to get off the topic that could potentially cause so much trouble. OoC: Half museless, sorry I've got Stutterfly running through my head stealing away all my muse *misses Stutterfly*

"Me? I had a dream about Re- waaait I mean...uh...." Kara stammered, awake enough to realize she had almost slipped. She sat up and shook her head, her wild brown hair flying everywhere. She glanced over at the table "Celie-celie-celie...there you are!" she sang happily. She scrambled up and shuffled over to the table.
Celestia. A little 7th year present. Ok, so she was found in a muggle petstore in the back, where no one would want her because was sick. Kara instantly fell in love with the barely year-old cat, and after much wheedling, coaxing, and promises to do many chores before she left for Diagon Alley, she left the muggle store, cradling a small brown bundle of much fur, purr and love. Truthfully, her dad wasn't too excited because he was sort of allergic to cats, but Kara knew how to hide things well. Hey, she did it all the time!
She slowly went to her knees and crawled towards the brown cat, her golden eyes intent on Kara's approaching figure. Slowly she made her way under the table to scoop the cat in her arms. Without thinking, again, she tried to stand up and promptly hit her head on the table. "Oooowie!" Kara groaned. She crouched back down and slowly backed out. If cats could laugh, then Celestia would be cracking up, but she settled for a little catty grin and a twitch of her tail and ears.
She made her way back to the chair and plopped down, settling Celestia on her stomache while keeping an eye on Niko. True, both cats had been very well behaved so far, but you never know... She looked at Lily "...Uum....yeah....couldn't sleep huh? School jitters? It is our last year after all." Kara forced a laugh. After this year, she might never see her friends for awhile, especially...No. Stop being so melodramatic. Kara scowled and contented herself with rubbing the bump on her head and stroking the cat purring in her lap.

Much to Lily's surprise, Kara left Lily's answer where it was, no prying questions, right now anyways. A soft smile almost dared to creep up over her lips in releif, but instead, a light breath exhaled through her lips. Lily's gaze remained on Niko, who's eyes were half closed, much enjoying the constant stroking motion. "Dream about what?" Lily persisted after Kara cut off, ending her sentence without an actual end. Though, it was doubtful the other girl heard her, Kara was too enthralled with finding her own cat, nor enough awake.
The room had fallen silent, all except the low crackle of the burning logs in the fire that seemed to never go out. And it remained that way until an abrupt thud was heard. "You okay?" Lily questioned Kara, turning her head around to see what happened, only to see Kara approaching with kitten in hand. As Kara flopped down into the nearby couch, Niko's ears perked, lazily turning an eye towards the pair. The kittens had met before, once or twice, and so far so good, but as usual, Niko kept gaze toward the other cat, still leary of a creature alike to her.
As Kara spoke again, Lily took a moment to register her words in mind. "Hmm..what? Oh, sleep.. yeah.. no. Couldn't sleep." She replied while nodding her head, then allowing her emerald eyes to glance up toward Kara. School Jitters. Heh, people knew Lily too well. Or maybe she just had a horrible reputation for that, which she sure enough did. A smile crossed Lily's lips. "Yeah, school jitters. Seventh year already eh? Crazy.." Apon her last words, Lily ran a hand through her deep auburn hair, then resting her head back on the cushions of the couch. Their last year, and yet life seemed so wasted, something missing, but even yet, Lily couldn't figure out what it was.

Kara did hear her, there wasn't much that Kara missed. She looked at Lily, trying to think hard. Which was an effort, it was early morning. "Uum....did I say I was dreaming about something...? I was...uh...dreaming about..." Kara stammered for a moment. She couldn't tell Lily that she was dreaming of Remus! ..Or could she? Lily wasn't Parker, who would make a huge deal out of it. Kara sighed and looked down at the kitten in her lap.
"Yeah I'm alright, just bumped my head again, like every other morning...except this time I tried to stand up under a table..." Kara forced a quiet laugh then looked at her kitten. "It does feel weird, 7th year already...so many things have changed since 1st year...." Like feelings for someone else. Kara sighed. She continued stroking Celestia, who had contented herself for ignoring Niko for the most part. Feeling the other kitten's eyes on her, apparently, she turned and faced Niko, her ears forward and tail twitching, a sure sign she wanted to play. Kara grunted as Celestia jumped off her and onto the floor by the fire, batting at invisible bugs or string or whatnot, darting everwhere in front of the two girls and other kitten.
Kara watched her cat frisk around for a moment "Hey Lily...? What does it mean if you're....dreaming of someone?" she asked hesitantly. Taylor and Lily were the best to listen, but Lily would be the better out of the two on this, most likely. "Like, dreaming every night since the summer began...?" Oh lord, now I sound like some kind of stalker or freak... Kara continued to watch her kitten before turning her eyes to Lily, hoping Lily could give her a better answer then what she could give herself.

Lily let a gentle smile envalope her strawberry lips as Kara attempted to reply to her question, but yet again left the sentence hanging. No, Lily didn't really care about the answer, nor was she going to nag Kara about it, she knew how it was when you just plain didn't want to tell someone something. In fact, oddly coincidential, she felt exactly that way right now. Straying her attention off Kara and down to Niko, she scratched a particularly itchy spot on the calico's shoulder, whom purred in thanks. "Boy, do I ever know what you mean..." Lily agreed, a soft chuckle escaping her lips as she shook her head. So many things had changed, and not just the fact that they were in seventh year now and she was headgirl, no that was only a minor detail.
Niko took the flick of tail as a sign, and in turn leapt off Lily's lap, bounding across the carpeted floor towards the fire's hearth. Crowching a few inches away from the other kitten, she wiggled her tail, then darted forwards, batting at the Celestia's tail then dashing back a few steps as too 'dare' her to play a game of tag. Lily laughed, a soft, cheerful laugh, the kind that got stuck in your head, but even still didn't piss you off. Kittens were so funny. Funny, Lily was almost jealous of the kitten's abilities to just play like nothing else in the world mattered. Careless, yet nothing of the sort.
"Mmm?" Lily's jaden eyes wandered back towards Kara and away from the playful kittens. Hah, wouldn't I like to know the same thing. She thought to herself, but hesitated on an answer to reply to Kara. "Umm. I'm not sure." She spoke, a safe answer, but even then, she wasn't satisfied with her own reply. "Umm. Maybe it means the person's become a big deal in your life now. Something like that I'd guess..if that makes sense.." She pondered on her answer, furrowing her brows. So, was Lily actualy telling herself that thinking of someone that much, ment they were a big part of her life? Ha, yeah, a big pain in the arse! She contradicted herself, but left her reply at that, not really sure of what to answer Kara with.

Kara watched as Celestia turned and scampered over to Niko, attempting to bat the other kitten with a paw. Nervous at first, yet now they were playing like old friends. Kara envied her kitten, able to forget troublesome things to just play. It was simply amazing. And wonderful.
Kara continued to watch the kittens for a few minutes before looking over at Lily, her green eyes, not as bright of a gree as Lily's, somewhat confused and trouble though her face was straight. "Lil...what if its a guy...like one of your friends...?" Kara had trouble getting the words out and she felt her face heat up.
Truthfully, she didn't quite want to talk about it, it was embarassing for the Queen of Dungbombs to be talking about stuff like this, but she just felt she had to talk to someone about at least one of the things happening right now, one of my many things troubling her. Though she was of age in the wizarding community, her mother might still try to pull her out of Hogwarts, being not 18 in the muggle community...and that was something she dreaded. She never wanted to go back to her mother. Never. She forced her mind away from that and back onto the little problem that she was asking Lily about.
Was Lily reluctant to talk about this also? If so, she didn't want to push, it just seemed like Lily would be the best person to ask about this and not get teased about it. If Lily couldn't answer, she could send an owl to Aunt Maria, but she was a little nervous about that as a bad feeling had begun to spring into her mind about her dearly beloved father and aunt, the only family she had left...
No. She was asking Lily about her guy problem and only that. Her friends didnt need to know that she was turning into a loony.

Kara's questions had kickstarted her own mind to turn about over the thoughts she'd been holding back lately. But no, she didn't want to think about that now, because if she thought about it around someone else, she'd end up saying something, and to admit to the thoughts that lingered in her mind, would be sheer suicide. It just couldn't be done, Lily wouldn't let it. Though just because of Lily's insecurities, didn't mean she couldn't attempt to answer Kara's questions right? Even if Kara's questions were only a jump skip and a hop away from being identical to the ones she'd been asking herself. What if its a guy...like one of your friends. Lily mental squirmed. Kara didn't know it, but she was hitting it dead on, the exact same question that washed through Lily's mind. Well, sort-of, she couldn't consider him a friend, more like a mutual enemy. "Maybe.." Lily paused, hesitating on the answer that came to mind. No, that couldn't be it, could it? "Maybe, you like them? Her voice came out quieter, not expecting herself to actualy say that one outloud. Maybe you like them!? That was simply impossible! Unthinkable! Ridiciously horrifying! Lily's green eyes wandered away from Kara, away from the kittens, falling to rest upon her lap, studying the pattern on her PJ pants. That couldn't be right, there had to be a different answer. Maybe this only applied to if the guy you were thinking of was a friend, not an enemy. Hopefuly that would be the case. Lily pleaded silently in her mind, please let that be the case. OoC: Holy horrible post, my appologies

Kara fell silent as her mind immediately began racing, shrieking, telling her No! Lily's wrong! You can't like a guy! You're Kara! And especially not him! No bloody way! She groaned and held her head "No way...Aww man, since when I have been lovey-dovey?"
Despite her immediate refusal, the squirminess Kara felt inside spoke against it. She turned and buried her flaming face into a pillow and let out a groan. This was terrible! If Lily was right and she told him, it would completely ruin their friendship! And she couldn't bear that! It would be like being a failure at Quidditch, except worse!
She lifted her face from the pillow "Lils, I-I....what if you're right? What am I going to do?!" Kara bit her lip as she waited for an answer, and she automatically hugged the pillow tightly, like it was her only protection against her feelings. Oh lord...what if the guys find out?!
And before she knew what was going on, she burst into tears. Now she really knew. She hid her face in the pillow, trying to muffle the sobs that accentuated the dawning realization of what had been going on in her mind and heart.

Parker was, obviously still very confused from the previous night. She was almost afraid to come downstairs to the commonroom. It was possible that Remus was down there, and with the way she treated him, she was terrified to face him. Her face was still puffy from the crying she had done, but she would do her best to mask that with makeup. What would she do without her makeup? Even with her makeup, she still didn't look even close to her best. Her hair was up in a messy bun, and she wore pink heart pajama bottoms with a white tanktop. It wasn't even sunrise yet, five in the morning, and she didn't expect anyone to be up. Of course, when you don't expect it, you're usually wrong. And Parker was wrong in this case. As two of her best friends, who she didn't mind being around right now...were sitting talking. Now Kara was crying into a pillow. She didn't speak a single word as she approached them by the fire, pink blanket wrapped around her, and sat down on the chair next to Kara.
It seemed, none of them were having a very good year. Lily looked distracted, Kara was visibly upset, and Parker was puffy, and it was highly noticeable that she was crying as well. She blonde pushed her bangs out of her face and spoke softly. "Last night...sucked." She had a way of making a situation brighter, even when she wasn't trying, and the serious yet...lightly sarcasticly obvious tone proved that.
"Does anyone else think that I am a complete bitch?" She spoke, looking up at them, knowing they would probably say no, but knowing that she thought that she was a bitch. How could she do this...how could she be so confused? How could she play with his emotions like that? She wasn't sure who she liked...who she wanted. She didn't know if she even wanted a boyfriend right now. But he was hurting, and the only way she knew she could try and make it better was kiss him? She could've done something else...why did she do that? Was it impulse? Or a subconsious notion and decision? Being as confused as she was was extremely frustrating...she needed to figure this out.

Kara didn't remove her face from the pillow as she heard someone walk down the stairs. Great. Someone else to see her breakdown. But right now she honestly didn't care. More then anything she wanted to stay there, crying into what was becoming a sodden mass of fabric and feathers. She hoped she wouldn't have to replace the pillow.
Why? Why did this have to happen to her?! She didn't want to fall for one of her chums! This train of thought only made her cry even more. Right now she was hating herself so much more. Being so stupid. All this time, she wasn't nervous around him because he was so smart or something like that, she was nervous because her feelings were clashing on the inside.
Parker's comment about last night struck through to Kara. What had happened last night? She couldn't think clearly enough, or perhaps she was thinking too clearly. Why would last night suck? She didn't hear anything about this, which made Kara slightly annoyed through her sobs. Parker and Kara told each other just about everything.
Her next comment made Kara raise her face from the sodden pillow and stare at Parker, aware of how bad her tear-stained face looked at the moment. "What kind of stupid question is that? Did you break a Hufflepuff's heart or something?" she snorted. "You're not a bitch, you're just flighty." She wiped her face on her sleeve and blinked back more tears unsuccessfully.

“Waah?” Taylor exclaimed resignedly. Her usually full dormitory was now mostly empty. She checked which beds were deserted with a tired, sleepy-eyed scan and sighed. What were the other girls up to? No doubt talking about boys. It was always messy, the subject on boys. Taylor, luckily, had stayed far away from the dating game since her fifth year with that odd little guy from Ravenclaw. But her friends were always getting in and out of relationships- and for some reason, the relationships always seemed to include either Sirius, Remus or James. Taylor sighed as she thought this, swinging her legs out of bed as she did so. She did feel a little sorry for Peter- he was a sweet little guy, but unlike the other three boys he wasn’t the cutest or bravest, or… tallest. Taylor smiled a little at this thought, though more grimly than anything else. She was now at her wardrobe and was slinging her white silk dressing gown over her shoulders, the smooth folds creasing as she tied the brown belt around her slim waist. Taylor herself wasn’t really the tallest person in the world, but with her friends it didn’t seem to matter that much. But Peter was awfully short, whereas Sirius, James and Remus were all pretty tall. Feeling a little silly, Taylor leant forwards, then down. She mimicked what she thought it would be like to kiss a short guy. It wasn’t very easy. Then Taylor did the same, but as though the imaginary shape was a bit taller. This felt better.
A grunt from behind Taylor made her jump, the sound smashing the silence like a hammer. She turned around, her dark hair flying wildly in all directions. What was there? She supposed it was one of those mad creatures Lovegood was always on about. What was it doing? Would it eat her? But no, the noise was just another student grumbling in their sleep, the girl that always snored amazingly loudly. With a soft laugh at her own stupidity, Taylor checked her appearance in the mirror slowly. It wasn’t too bad. Her body seemed to look a little taller in the silky robe, and her hair, after being brushed quickly, looked fine. Taylor’s fair skin was the thing she smiled at mostly. Tay didn’t have any spots, and no blemishes on her fine skin. Apparently it was a brilliant trait that ran through the Danes family and Tay loved it. With a soft pat to get rid of some random cat hairs on her neck, Taylor slipped her little feet into some fluffy green slippers and headed from the dorm. As she left, Taylor seized hold of her sketch paper and a nice sharp pencil.
She was still amazingly tired but wanted to see what her friends were up to- Taylor didn’t like to think she was being left out of things, even if she knew this was immature. She slowly padded down the seemingly endless stairs to the common room. There was a chance that the girls weren’t in there, but if they weren’t then Taylor had come ready. She had her drawing equipment which could keep Taylor interested for ages. And if the girls were there and moaning about boys, then Taylor could draw them in their despair. That was always fun. She entered the Common room and almost tripped in her thoughts, and did cause a nearby portrait of Sir Grolumick to scowl at her as her had hit his face to steady her fall. Righting herself and making sure her paper wasn’t ripped hastily, she saw three familiar heads, and one familiar voice.
“Does anyone else think that I am a complete bitch?” The voice said in a half-hearted voice. Taylor smiled. Typical Parker. She stepped over to the three and took her place on a large white chair, and took in the scene. Kara’s weeping tears, Parker’s moans of self-ruin. And Noki and Celestia playing beside the fire. Taylor smiled at the cute little kittens before turning to Parker. “Of course your not a complete bitch, your wonderful. You just do what’s right, even if it is unfair. And Kara don’t cry! See this is what happens when you all get involved with guys. Me, I stick with kittens.” She smiled at this thought and looked down at her hand, which was now being licked to oblivion by Celestia and Niko.
